SO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Introducing Quantum Homes.

Built Beyond Code. Not Just to It.

You've just seen what minimum code gets you. Here's what happens when you build with the worlds leading high-performance building standard, factory-certified components, and a thermal envelope designed to last 100+ years.
ONTARIO BUILDING CODE MINIMUM

Traditional Construction

Built on conventional building practices that often prioritize minimum code compliance over long-term performance.

Higher Energy Bills

More heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.

Less Comfortable

Drafts, temperature swings, and cold spots.

More Maintenance

Greater risk of moisture damage, mold, and premature wear.

Peace & Quiet Built In
Advanced insulation and airtight construction keep noise outside.
 THE COMPONENTS
Passive House  Certified Panels—the global benchmark for building performance.
Built beyond code. Third-party certified components designed to outperform standard construction.
 THE BUILDING ENVELOPE
Engineered components — not stick-framed on a job site in the rain.
Precision-built panels, factory-tested for airtightness and insulation — delivering consistent performance for decades.
 THE ENERGY MODEL
So airtight, so well-insulated, your heating demand drops to almost nothing.
The envelope does the work. A simple electric system handles the rest — no propane, no oil, no complexity.
🌿
Better for You. Better for the Planet.
Factory-built wood panel systems generate virtually no on-site waste, reduce embodied carbon, and dramatically lower the energy required to heat and cool your home.

Standard Specs That Aren't Standard Anywhere Else.

Every Model Includes:

Duxton Triple-Pane Windows
No drafts. No cold spots. Quiet, stable interiors.
Passive house certified triple-pane casement windows designed for cold climates. Consistent comfort across every model. Built to reduce heat loss, improve insulation, and eliminate that “cold window” feeling—standard, not an upgrade.
In-Floor Heated Bathroom Tile
Warm floors from the first step out of the shower. Every morning.
Electric in-floor heating beneath ceramic tile. A simple upgrade that changes how the space feels—adding comfort where you notice it most, every single day.
All-Electric. One Bill.
No propane. No gas. No split systems.
Electric hot water tank. Efficient heating and cooling. One streamlined system designed for simplicity, predictability, and long-term performance—aligned with Net-Zero Ready targets.
ERV — Energy Recovery Ventilator
Fresh, clean air. No heat loss.
everyone sleeps better — always.
Continuous fresh air exchange with heat recovery. Brings in clean air while maintaining indoor temperature and comfort—quiet, efficient, and always running in the background.
Ductless Mini-Split HVAC
No furnace. No ductwork.
No propane. Ever.
One quiet wall unit does all the work. No fossil fuels, no maintenance contracts. Sized to meet Net Zero Ready performance targets. Simple, proven, predictable.
PHI-Certified Cool-Climate Panels
Canada’s PHI-certified cool-climate panels. Proven. Built to perform.
Not a builder cert. The panels themselves are PHI-certified by the Passive House Institute—engineered for cool climates, verified through third-party testing, and built to deliver consistent, high-performance results.

From Quantum Homeowners

Four Real Homeowners. Zero Regrets.

“Good for us and good for the earth.”
We chose Quantum Passivhaus because integrity is important to us. We weren’t just building a house, we were building a way of life, and a connection with the earth.

We’ve lived in the house over 7 years now and still appreciate the comfort it offers —consistent temperatures from room to room, clean, fresh air, and no cold floors or drafts. During an ice storm, we went 11 days without power and barely lost any heat. The house just works, and our energy costs are much lower than what we were used to.

We feel very fortunate to have this beautiful home. It’s good for us, good for the earth, and good for our pocketbook. We highly recommend this company.

"The biggest difference living here is comfort."
"Our energy costs are dramatically lower than before, but more than that, the house just feels good. Everyone who stays here says they sleep incredibly well."

Gail and Mike Holness

"It feels like a cocoon for our family."
"The house is incredibly quiet, consistent from room to room, and the air feels clean. There’s very little dust, and the comfort is something you notice every day. "

Kathy and John Sprowl

"I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t build to this standard."
"From a cost perspective, it was basically the same as building a traditional house at the time, but the efficiency is far better. Everything here is electric, and we only have one bill."

 MARCH 2025 ICE STORM

11 Days Without Power. The House Was Still Warm.

Ontario's 2025 ice storm knocked out power to nearly 400,000 homes — and left parts of Minden Hills in the dark for up to 11 days. Here's what happened inside a Quantum home.
"We had an ice storm — eleven days without power — and we lost three degrees."
Marci & Alan Mandel
Minden Hills — Quantum Passivhaus Homeowners, 7+ years
"We've had major storms and didn't even know they were happening. We always lose power — but we don't need to keep the generator on all the time. The temperature of the house is pretty stable."
Gail & Mike Holness
Minden Hills — Quantum Passivhaus Homeowners
"We were without hydro for three or four days… and it wasn't a big deal at all. With a regular home, you'd be panicking, running up, turning off water. Not here."
John & Cathy Sprowl

Real Builds. Real People. Real Talk.

The Relationship Matters to us Just as Much as the Build.

Trust. Communication. Fairness.
"From the beginning, our relationship with Quantum Passivhaus felt different. To them, we weren’t just another sales project. They genuinely cared about what they were building, and who they were building it for. "
Marci Mandel & Alan Clark | Quantum Homeowner
"Working with Quantum felt natural and straightforward. Abby and Angie were local, community-focused, and genuinely committed to doing things the right way. It never felt like a sales pitch. If something came up, it was handled fairly and openly, and there was always an ongoing conversation."
Catherine and John Sprowl | Quantum Homeowner
"We chose Passive House because of Abby and Angie—we felt like we could trust them. From the build itself to living in the home now, the experience was about trust, communication, and comfort—and that’s made all the difference."
Gail and Mike Holness | Quantum Homeowner
Frequently Asked Questions

The Questions You Are Already Asking.

Essentials gives you the complete building envelope installed, all mechanical roughins done, and the structure brought to finished drywall with all inspections passed. You handle paint, flooring, fixtures, and final trim. Complete Turnkey means Quantum acts as your General Contractor from foundation to final walkthrough — every trade, every permit, everything coordinated. Both packages are built on the same PHI-certified panels and the same high-performance envelope. The difference is how much of the project you want Quantum to own.
The exact language matters. These ADUs are built with Passivehouse Insitute-certified cold-climate panels. The panels themselves carry the certification. We do not describe the buildings as Passive House certified unless that specific building certification has been achieved.
Net Zero Ready means the building is designed and built to perform at a level where it could achieve net zero energy consumption — it just hasn't been formally certified yet. The envelope, airtightness, insulation, and mechanical systems are all specified to that standard. On Complete Turnkey builds, Quantum works with Homesol, a third-party energy modelling partner, to verify performance. The Net Zero Ready label itself is a builder-driven certification and applies to Turnkey builds only. Essentials packages are engineered to the same performance standard — the label requires a certification process that only applies when Quantum is the builder of record end to end.
For Complete Turnkey, the scope is presented as a fixed-price contract for Quantum's standard scope. For Essentials, the panel, envelope, roughins, and drywall are fixed — everything you coordinate beyond that is subject to your own trade quotes. Site preparation, foundation engineering, service hookups, and geotechnical work are outside both package scopes and discussed as allowances before you sign anything.
On the Essentials package, Quantum guarantees the superstructure will be up within 30 days — from permit approval if a permit is required, or from signing if not. The 30-day guarantee applies to the superstructure only. Complete Turnkey timelines are agreed upon during the sales process and subject to permit approval where required.
On Complete Turnkey, yes — Quantum acts as your General Contractor from first conversation to final walkthrough. On Essentials, you coordinate your own trades for paint, flooring, fixtures, and final trim. If you want Quantum's process without the full Turnkey price, the PM Package and PM Service add-ons are available on Essentials.
Both are optional add-ons available on the Essentials package. The PM Package ($5,000) gives you Quantum's material takeoff, QC checklist, project timeline template, and permit process overview — everything you need to manage your own finishing trades professionally. The PM Service ($15,000) means Quantum finds and manages qualified local trades on your behalf. Essentials price. Turnkey experience.
You get clarity. We review your property, your intended use, your package interest, and the right next step. No obligation. If the fit isn't right, you'll know quickly. If you're already clear on the model and package you want, you can also book a tentative construction date directly — a sales representative will reach out with contract details.
Many Ontario residential properties can now support multiple units as-of-right under current legislation. Suitability still depends on your specific site, servicing, and local conditions. That's exactly what the first call is for — we'll tell you quickly whether it's a realistic fit.
Things go wrong on every build. All four homeowners we interviewed mentioned something that didn't go as planned. All four still recommend Quantum without hesitation. What they said, unprompted: "Things went wrong, but they always had our backs." No nickel-and-diming. No "that's not our problem." We fix it.
This is the most common concern — and the one the building completely disproves. The ERV continuously exchanges fresh outdoor air, recovering heat before it escapes. The result is cleaner air than any vented standard home. "I used to have a really dry nose. I don't anymore." "Everyone who stays here gets a good night's sleep." The mechanism works all the time, automatically.
Included on both packages: PHI-certified panels, Duxton triple-pane windows, ERV, heat pump, in-floor bathroom heat, electric hot water, siding, roofing. Complete Turnkey also includes drywall, flooring, paint, trim, cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures. Essentials includes drywall and all roughins — paint, flooring, fixtures, and final trim are yours to complete. Appliances are not included in either package and are available as an add-on. Excluded from all packages: site preparation, foundation engineering, service hookups, geotechnical work. We walk you through exclusions before you sign — not after.
For a pre-designed ADU, a full custom feasibility study isn't required. After your 15-minute call, if you're ready to move forward, a $500 commitment deposit holds your spot. If you proceed to contract, that $500 rolls in. If you don't proceed, you keep the feasibility document. It's designed to filter serious buyers and protect everyone's time.
Sign a pre-construction agreement before May 31, 2026 and $7,000 in Build It Better Credit is applied to your project. On Complete Turnkey it applies toward finish upgrades, Quantum's appliance package, or your final payment. On Essentials it applies toward your final payment or upgrades within Quantum's scope.
The Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit gives eligible families up to $7,500 back at tax time. The CMHC insured mortgage refinancing program lets you borrow up to 90% of your post-renovation property value. The County of Simcoe Secondary Suites Program offers up to $50,000 in forgivable loans. The Town of Collingwood Rapid ARU Grant offers $10,000 for qualifying builds. ADUs are also exempt from development charges province-wide under Bill 23. Ask on your call — we'll tell you what applies to your municipality.
Yes — if you're comparing the right numbers. A code-minimum ADU is cheaper to build and more expensive to own. Higher energy bills every year. Tenants who leave in January because heating costs too much. Nobody who owns a Quantum ADU asks whether it was worth it after their first winter.
